We are offering and early near mint in correctly marked box 1949/50 strung Vogue hard plastic painted eye Ginny doll. We only say nr. mint in box because her factory wig may have a few stray hairs from being stored over the years (typical of these types of wigs and when they have not been restyled) and her white organdy now may be slightly off-white and not snow white as it may have been when first made.
Everyone has a different opinion relating to condition and what their expectations are, so please study the photos closely and see if she isn't one that you might enjoy. She has so many plus things including being a factory original and complete dressed doll in her original box that is correctly marked (faintly); not a put together dressed doll. We think if you enjoy the early dolls and love your dolls to be complete and correct and as issued and not a mix of bits and pieces, than she may be one for you.
DETAILS
Pinky comes to you in her complete original factory outfit and her
correct faintly marked box
Toddler, 8", #8-4C, Yellow, Blonde, Pinky . Ginny is from the toddler series and is all hard plastic with painted eyes marked Vogue Doll on her back. Nice lashes & brows and the typical coloring of this era doll with those beautiful deep color lips and slight pink cheeks; factory, no touch ups, no repaints or enhancements! Her right brow is a bit light towards the end but in person you see it (photos may not capture it well). Her hair (mohair factory wig) still retains most of the original set other than a few stray hairs(nice and full) and perhaps has some expected flattening in back from being stored in her box all these years. She does not appear to have been played with or ever displayed.
Her outfit is crisp, never washed and is tagged (see photos).
There are no obvious stains or issues (no tears, splits or repairs). Beautiful off-white and yellow dotted swiss organdy (bonnet ruffles) with sweet smocking detail at the bodice. Her matching ruffled white/yellow organdy bonnet is trimmed in cotton lace and ties with the original ribbon,
not replacement
. Her original organdy panties have good elastic in waist and legs with no sagging or bagging; if anything may be ever so slightly loose at waist. She was always on a stand so when she had to be restrung that is the only time she was undressed. Beautiful early wedge wood blue center snap shoes and yellow rayon socks are original and in great condition; strong snaps (no repairs) and we would consider them mint; smooth early soles, unique color and original to her. Her outfit has never been washed, never ironed and we don't think it needs any attention, but we'll let you look at the photos and judge. No tears, no repairs and no ugly stains. Not sure where Pinky got her purse but she came to us with it and she wants to bring it with her to her new home. If you look in the new reference book "The Colorful World of Ginny" the Pinky we are offering here is the exact doll you see pictured there. Pinky is much prettier in person in our opinion and displays beautifully. Our photos may not do her justice. We tried different lighting settings to try to capture how pretty she really is in person. We think most collectors would be extremely pleased to add her to their collection. She is from our personal collection and we have had her for many years. We use to collect all color variations of these early dolls (same outfit) and they really make a nice statement when you display a few together in different colors; hair color sometimes varied too. Pinky came in white/pink, white/yellow, white/blue and perhaps another color. We are offering the white/yellow dressed version in this auction in her correct box. We think she is one of the sweetest dolls Vogue made in the painted eye with such a pretty feminine detail to her outfit and the amazing multi-ruffled bonnet adds to the sweet finished look, darling. Dress is identical in style to the later Angela dress with the smocking except the band color and the fact it did not have or come with an attached slip sets it apart. Debutante Angela's outfit had an attached taffeta slip and her hat was the felt with the plume. Vogue often carried over styles and outfits just doing something slightly different to set them apart from previous years productions. Pinky's box is the correct box in good overall condition with correct label intact but very faint. There are some rubs and typical wear one might expect from a 60 year old or so box. The box has kept this doll in great condition all these years. An adorable & very sweet early Ginny; complete with no repro parts or pieces and no redo's (other than being restrung, as is typical, often the old rubber bands dried and broke, but now you can pose her nicely without her falling apart; she still retains an original rubber band on her arms and seems to be holding fine).

There may be slight variations in the color shades of items as it is hard sometimes to capture the true color in the photos or scans, but if any, it would only be slight and most items are nicer than photos show. We are not professional photographers nor have vast knowledge in all the newest technology. Please contact us with questions in case we missed something important to you as "all sales are final, no returns" unless we have grossly misrepresented an item. Must be contacted immediately upon receipt to discuss. Please bear in mind that these are vintage items and made as play things, over 50 years old (most) and some older (antique) so there may be some flaws in the making as many things may have been hand done and/or machine made or a combination. We do our best to provide lots of photos and specific condition issues too.
