Description
It is time to sell my Cleveland postcard collection. I grew up in northeast Ohio and have collected these postcards for many years. There are over 1,690 postcards, a few souvenir folders, and a book on Cleveland postcards. The vast majority of these are linen postcards from the 1940s-1950s with many unused. There are only about 80 chromes in the collection and those are mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. Just about everything is over sixty years old. There is too much to photograph. Here is a description:78 chrome from the 1950s-1960s
Multiple copies of unused old store stock:
175 Greetings from Cleveland (four views)
32 Greetings from Cleveland (large letter)
117 C-4 Public Square and Terminal Tower
92 Aerial View of Fine Arts Center, Arts Garden, Art Museum, and Severance Hall
48 C-17 Aerial View of Downtown Cleveland, George W. Klein
20 Cathedral of St. John, Braun Art
28 C-8 High Level Bridge Showing Terminal Tower
Nearly all of these are unused, but there is some greying or yellowing of card stock
56 Great Lake Exposition, mostly unused
8 Cleveland Indians autographed postcards
23 Cleveland Museum of Art, mostly photo cards
15 Cleveland Municipal Stadium (11 linen and 4 chrome) and 1 Cleveland Arena
8 restaurants
Over 500 of linen from the 1940s and 1950s, mostly unused. Great variety.
27 white border used (mostly 1920s-1930s)
125 white border unused (some very clean while others have worn edges, smudges, or pencil marks and price)
Over 200 divided back from 1910s to 1930s (condition varies)
Over 90 undivided back (starting around 1905 through 1910s)
Overall, a nice collection. The older used cards may have some worn edges or flaking but I usually discarded any postcard that was in poor condition. Almost all of the postcards are sleeved with the nicest in archival Mylar sleeves. Most of these have been purchased online over the years. They have been stored in a dry, smoke and pet-free house. The three file boxes are heavy, hence the postage cost.
