Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.
All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
Sun's ISO 03 sandwich bodies are designed for multi-functional use to permit maximum circuit flexibility. Due to this versatility, the ISO 03 sandwich bodies do not have a counterbore for installing o-ring seals. Instead, Sun uses a special seal plate with a raised "NIB" and a locating "NOTCH". These bodies incorporate oversize, symmetrical mounting holes to allow the bodies to be rotated about the "NIB" axis and the longitudinal axis to achieve the desired functionality.

All of the products that are for sale through Automation Hydraulics are surplus from our product development business.  They are all either new or have only been used lightly in our shop or in demonstration applications.  We guarantee that all items ship in full working order and free of contamination.  Used items may have lubricants or other minor cosmetic damage.  All of the hydraulics equipment that we have for sale requires the use of filtered hydraulic oil.  Please consult the manufacturers' for the fluid cleanliness recommendation of your products.  If you are not fully satisfied with the condition of the item you've purchased, let us know within 30 days of receipt for replacement or refund.
To receive a refund or replacement, we require you provide photos and documentation of your filtration system and application to ensure that your use was in accordance with with the manufacture's requirements.
Shipping
We aim to ship your items within two days business days of payment clearing and to offer the most economical shipping available.  We use multiple carriers and commercial freight.  Our freight costs are our best estimates for what we actually expect shipping expenses to be, plus 10% Ebay fees and 10% packaging and handling costs.  If our shipping estimates seem out of line with your expectations, please reach out to us.
For items that are shipping via commercial freight, we will need to know the following information in addition to the shipping address:
- Is this a business address (YES / NO)?
- Is a liftgate required?
- Who should the carrier notify if they have any issues delivering the shipment?
