This replacement blade went on an old close quarters pipe cutter that I've had for many years. The first thing I cut with it was a piece of 1/2' EMT. It went through it easily. The blade doesn't seem to be any sharper than the old one but the old one was chipped. I've noticed that any tube cutter blade that is very sharp and seems to cut fast, doesn't last long. I think this one should last as long as the one it replaced
