Description

Here is an unusual pair of picture postcards with Newark, O., (Licking County) felt Cinderella (labels that might look like a stamp but aren't) pennants on them. One is blue and one is red. These are "Dutch" dialect postcards picturing a boy and girls in Dutch costume. They have some edge and corner wear, a vertical creasing and a small tear at the top on the one picturing a boy and minor discoloration, some of it from an old-fashioned postcard album. They are not as dark as my Honest Abe scanner makes them appear.
Both were sent in 1913 and 1914 without message to one Edward Schmid, Station A, Route 2, Columbus. The handwriting is not the same on the cards, however. The Washington one-cent stamps, placed at various angles reminiscent of the language of stamps, are tied by Newark machine cancels. They were published by K&T.
Elusive Newark, Licking County, Ohio, felt pennant and "Dutch" postcards.
The postage on this lot is higher than I would like, which is down to Royal Mail rates and other charges beyond my control. I use good British stamps to send all my lots and these should result in collectable stamps cancelled by hand in my village post office for the buyer.
As I have some buy-it-now lots, anyone who makes a purchase might want to look at them before paying. If you buy more than one item, please wait for my invoice so I can combine postage.
When payment is received by teatime British time (it is usually dished up about 4:30) I normally post the item the next morning. Our village post office is closed on Saturdays, however, so if you pay on Friday the item will not go out until the following Monday.
