    Description

This is an Esterbrook 101  fountain pen that was made in the USA in the 1950s.
It is an unfinished non-working prototype.
Esterbrook would make trial runs of colors and this was one of those.
101 pens are all solid colors, but this one is mottled like an end of the day pen.
If it was an end of the day pen, it would not have a matching section.
They made the cap, barrel and section in this color to see how it would come out.
I think the injection molding machines of that era could not make something like this with consistent color.
The section of this pen was not finished, there is not hole going through it.
They machined it enough to install a nib, that is it.
There is no clip of other trim.
    No holes for a clip.
15-20 years ago, I purchased a lot of Esterbrook material that came from the manager of the Esterbrook repair center.
I am sifting through it now and sorting it out.
I have some rare pieces that I will be listing.
I am not affiliated with the new Esterbrook pen company.
I sell vintage pens and parts.
