    Description

ESTATE FRESH a very rare EXAMPLE OF COWBOY FOLK ART--A PAIR of very old IRON SPURS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE INTO BOOKENDS--THE UPSIDE OF THE STAND ENDS are  ABOUT 8.00" AND THEY WEIGH CLOSE TO TEN POUNDS TOTAL--THEY ARE COMPLETELY COVERED IN RUST WHICH IN EFFECT IS THE PATINA--THE SPURS ARE WELDED TO THE STANDS--NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THE SPUR DESIGN INCLUDES THE NUMBER 8 which I imagine HAD SOME KIND OF SIGNIFICANCE.
Note the fence wire attached to the edges of the bookends as a unique decorative touch. A viewer suggested the artist should have put this together is such a way to allow the rowels to spin freely. Maybe the artist was going for the static sculpture look as opposed to kinetic art.
